  1. Odor reporting is usually of no use. The officials who respond need to be at the site and smell the odor and usually they come only after the odor is gone. I tried to report an odor complaint on Friday – April 28th, the website was not working and the phone was put on hold for many minutes after which I gave up.
We need to have stronger automatic odor detection mechanisms and not rely on confirmation from the BAAQMD officials who are always short staffed and cannot serve more than 1-2 complaints at a time.
The odor from Newby Island is widespread and usually shifts based on the wind direction. I have myself raised several complaints in the last 2-3 months.
